Tarun Tahiliani ends IBFW 2013

LisaDhaka, 29 July, Abnews : With actress Lisa Haydon as a showstopper and a collection featuring Indian drapes in dramatic forms, ace designer Tarun Tahiliani brought the curtains down on the first Delhi edition of India Bridal Fashion Week (IBFW) in style. Lisa, 27, began the show as a contemporary Indian bride in a shimmery gown which had a veil and later opted for a white lehenga with her face partially covered by a net dupatta (scarf). I am a fan of his collection and want something light and at the same time traditional for my wedding too, Lisa said.

Models sauntered down the ramp decorated only with an outline of a big palace and Tarun said it was done in that manner to give the audience enough space to weave their own story. My good friend Lisa Haydon is with me and she walked the ramp as a contemporary bride. Half of her face was covered just to show the shy and coy nature of a bride and to also show that she is modern. I have used Indian drapes in various forms because our age-old Indian clothes are all about draping, Tarun said.

The designer, who is known for his live music during the show, opted for a contemporary dance this time by the students of choreographer Jayachandran Palazhy from Attakkalari Centre for movement arts. heir performance beautifully segregated his collection which was divided in three sections – The Gold Collection, Enchanted Forest and Man of the Hour.

The gold collection introduced gold as the new shade of the season. It mostly had drape gowns and sarees with pallu highlighting the Indian sensibilities. In the second section, Tarun reinvented the sarees with belts, cape and bustiers in hues of pink, ivory, beige and red.
