Once Upon… fails miserably, collects Rs 40

MoveiDhaka, 19 August, Abnews : Ekta Kapoor’s Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara featuring Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan has failed to impress the audience and got a dull response at the Box Office. Despite being a sequel of the smash hit Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai (2010), the film has failed to live up to the massive expectations since the word of mouth is far from positive. The film started off well on Thursday (Augusut 15), but was lower than Thursday on the remaining days [Friday to Sunday].

On Friday, the film earned Rs 10.25 crore, while on Saturday it collected Rs 8.50 crore to 8.75 crore. Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express, which had released a week ahead of Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara, was still going strong at the box office. The movie has already earned Rs 180 crores. On the other hand Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara has collected a mere Rs 40 cr nett in its opening weekend.

The movie’s overseas collection too has not warmed up. In New Zealand Once Upon A time In Mumbai Dobaara has collected a mere Rs 2.63 lakh. In Australia, The film made a only Rs 15.33 lakh. In UK, Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara collected £14,119 on Thursday, £ 29,428 on Friday bringing in a total of Rs 41.99 lakh.

No wonder, Akshay Kumar is miffed with Shah Rukh Khan as Chennai Express is doing great business. According to reports the actor did not take it well when a song from Chennai Express was played at a reality show where he was promoting his film.
