8,000 buildings built illegally in city : Mannan

Dhaka CityDhaka, 30 June, Abnews : Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) has identified a total of 8,000 installations built illegally in the capital ignoring the building code. This was stated by State Minister for Housing and Public Works Adv Abdul Mannan Khan while responding to a tabled question of treasury bench member Md. Shahriar Alam in the House. The state minister said that lawful actions would be taken against the violators of the Building Construction Act 1952.

Replying to another question of HN Golam Reza (Satkhira-4), Adv. Mannan informed the House that a total of 6467 houses have remained abandoned in the city. Of those, 106 houses remained under illegal occupation. The state minister said the government has earned Taka nearly 16.19 crore during the last four years as rent from the abandoned houses. Besides, Taka 24.21 crore in terms of lease proceeds or rent of the abandoned houses has remained outstanding so far.
